Return illegal guns in 2-weeks- Police tells owners

Lagos State Police Command has warned all those in possession of illegal fire arms to return them to the command within 14 days.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Police, Mr. Cornelius Aderanti, while addressing newsmen during a press conference held at the state police headquarters, Ikeja, yesterday, said those in possession of such firearms should feel free to return them within the stipulated period because failure to do so would result to legal action against any suspect.
Aderanti said many people have been returning their illegally possessed firearms to the police since he issued the first warning.
He told them to feel free to do same for their own interest.
LEADERSHIP investigation revealed that the mopping of illegal arms is to prevent thugs from using same during the political process and to reduce criminal activities in the state.
