A Chinese national working with China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) in Kaduna State, who was abducted last week by unknown gunmen has been released. The Chinense national who was working at the company's station in Jere, Kagarko Local Government Area, was kidnapped by un gunmen in Koro-Ija while supervising ongoing work on the Kaduna-Abuja standard gauge railway tracks. The source said the gunmen requested a huge sum of money as ransom.
He said at the initial stage, authorities of the Chinese company held talks with the gunmen by telephone on how the abducted man could be freed from captivity without ransom. "The man was freed after a large sum of money was paid," the source said. Meanwhile, the Police in Kaduna State and the FCT, are yet to make comments on the issue.
