Vice President, Yemi
Osinbajo, has given insights into the priorities of the Muhammadu Buhari
administration. Osinabjo disclosed this in an interview with SaharaTV.
He said the
administration’s focus would be on “security, corruption, and the economy”.
According to him, the
administration would take security seriously and added that the concerns
concerning the Niger Delta are important.
He stated that the
administration would be at “the forefront of addressing issues affecting all
ethnic minorities and tensions.”
On the economy and
corruption, Osinbajo addressed several issues including the fuel scarcity, and
the missing $20 billion from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
On fuel subsidies,
Osinbajo stated that the administration is currently “undecided about the
implementation of subsidies and would soon respond to the downstream sector.”
He also stated that he
wanted to see a disciplined government and address voter concerns about the
huge cost of government, adding that Buhari would certainly address the $20
billion allegedly missing in the Nigerian Treasury.
On the religion and
politics, Osinbajo stated that Biblically, God has always been interested in
leadership and tried to appoint good leaders for the Israelites.
Going personal, Osinbajo
said that on a good night with his wife he would prefer a stroll on the beach
to a movie.
He also said he strongly
prefers taking ice cream to cake, adding that he liked to wear native clothing
and is extremely comfortable wearing a kaftan and trousers.
He affirmed his status
as a politician and a family man, saying that reading and playing with children
were his favourite hobbies.
