Two die after drinking N1, 850 holy water from pastor

A man, said to be a pastor and his female accomplice are in Police net in Asaba, the Delta State capital for the alleged killing of two children with a deadly substance sold by the pastor to his congregation as holy water for N1,850.
The Delta State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu, in a press release, said the suspects are in custody helping the police with relevant information.
According to DSP Kalu: "On July 25, at about 4.00 am, the Police at Abraka Police Station received information that a woman, Ese Oghenevwe (25), of Urhuoka quarters, Abraka had killed her two sons namely, Prayer Clement (9 months) and Wisdom Clement ( 2 years) by giving them a liquid substance to drink.
"Based on the information, detectives arrested the said Ese Oghenevwe. The suspect revealed that the substance was given to her by one Apostle Austin Eduviere of Triumphant World International Church for healing purposes as the Apostle claimed he had prayed over it.
"Meanwhile, the said Apostle Austine has also been arrested and he is helping the Police in their investigation. The suspect disclosed that the said substance was a mixture of water and salt which he sold to people for N1,850.00 for healing of various sicknesses after praying for them."
The police say they are on top of the situation and must get to the root of the "sanctified water" saga.

Ebola: Ogun on red alert

Ogun governor Ibikunle Amosun has said that health officials of state border areas have been put on red alert to prevent Ebola virus spread.
While speaking at the Annual General Meeting of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) in Abeokuta, the governor also urged the doctors to call of the ongoing nationwide strike, Premium Times reports.
"We are terribly exposed because we have numerous border towns in our state. All the health officials and other government agents in border areas have been put on red alert to work assiduously to curtail the infiltration of the deadly Ebola virus."

Another Nigerian down with Ebola

Indications emerged, today, that one of the 15 airport contacts that assisted the late Liberian, Mr. Patrick Sawyer, that died of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, may have contracted the deadly virus.
Unconfirmed reports revealed that already the contact has begun to manifest symptoms of Ebola Virus.
According to a member of the Joint Federal and State Team on Ebola outbreak who preferred anonymity; one of the persons who accompanied late Patrick Sawyer is already showing signs of Ebola.

Ebola scare in Anambra State

There is currently fear in Anambra state as a body was brought in from Liberia and deposited this morning in a Mortuary in the state.
Joe Akabuike Commissioner for Health in the state confirmed the report but said that they are not yet sure if the person died of the virus.
He said: "It is true that a body was brought in today from Liberia but  cause of death is not known yet. All morticians have been  quarantined as well aa all family members who had contact with the body."
He added that they have also informed all necessary agencies about the development.

The extract can be eaten or rubbed into the skin

Abba may replace Abubakar as IG

Barring any last change of plan, the Federal Government is expected to announce Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Mr. Suleiman Abba, as a replacement for Mohammed Abubakar, the Inspector-General of Police, whose tenure ended on July 30, 2014. 
Findings indicated that President Goodluck Jonathan had already conveyed to Abba the news of his appointment as the next IG, following his selection by the Police Council made up of the 36 state governors and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, Mike Okiro.

Confusion in LASU as striking workers shut offices

Striking workers of the Lagos State University, Ojo, on Wednesday forcibly shut offices in the university, an action that disrupted all administrative and academic activities in the school.

MBGN winner lied about her age

‎Several reports have alluded that Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria winner,Iheoma Nnadi lied about her age.
Nnadi, according to her Silverbird profile, is 19 years of age.
The reports began after the above photo was found on Instagram account, which she said she took 7 years ago.
Well that certainly isn't a 12-year old. Or could it be.

Bomb blast at Kano State College of Islamic Studies and Kano State Polytechnic

A suicide bomber, suspected to be a woman, has blown up a section of the Kano State College of Islamic Studies.
The incident occurred at about 2:45pm this afternoon.
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the incident but is yet to give any information on the number of persons killed or injured.
Another female suicide bomber targeting Polytechnic students struck again in Kano, the spokesperson of the Police in the state, Magaji Majiya, has told PREMIUM TIMES.

Man commits suicide over 35, 000 rent

A 43-year old mechanic in Minna, Obi Orji has committed suicide over his inability to pay his N35,000 house rent b y drinking a poisonous chemical.

Ebola virus kills it's expert

Sierra Leone's top doctor fighting an outbreak of Ebola has died from the virus, the country's chief medical officer, Brima Kargbo, said today.
Sheik Umar Khan, who was credited with treating more than 100 patients, was infected with Ebola this month and had been moved to a treatment ward run by medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres in the far north of the country.‎

I have cure for Ebola virus- Pastor

Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, Founder of Trinity House in Lagos claims to have the cure for the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease that is currently ravaging Africa.
Following the first discovered case of Ebola in the country, Ighodalo said he had a "message of hope and faith" that would uncover the solution to the highly infectious disease.
According to Ighodalo, God's "anointing" and the "living words of Jesus," were all that are needed to cure the deadly disease," adding that mere laying of hands on those afflicted with the incurable Ebola virus was all that was required to liberate them.

Nigeria bans airline for flying in Ebola victim

Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended all ASky Airline flight operations to Nigeria over the transportation of an Ebola virus victim into the country.
Mr Benedict Adeyileka, the Acting Director-General of NCAA, announced the decision in a statement issued by the general manager, public communications of NCAA, Mr Fan Ndubuoke, in Lagos on Monday.

UPDATE: Commonwealth Games: Nigerian gold medallist, Chika Amalaha, accused of doping, suspended

Chika Amalaha has been provisionally suspended from the tournament.
A Nigerian athlete, Chika Amalaha, on Tuesday failed a preliminary drug test at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
The 16-year-old weightlifter had on Saturday won gold medal in the 53kg category before testing positive shortly afterwards.
Officials have now requested a B sample test on the athlete.
Commonwealth Games Federation chief executive, Mike Hooper, was quoted on the Games' website as saying on Tuesday morning that nobody should conclude yet.

The palace of Sultan Sa'ad Abubakar has now admitted that the Sultan made a mistake by announcing the end of Ramadan based on claims by some Nigerian Muslims that they sighted the new moon of Shawwal on Saturday night.
The result of the joint moonsighting exercise undertaken by the Sultanate Moon Sighting Committee and the Nigerian National Moonsighting Committee on Sunday clearly showed that the monarch erred in the pronouncement he made on Saturday prematurely terminating the Ramadan fast in Nigeria.

El-Rufai's son dies in auto crash

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Sunday morning lost one of his sons in a car crash. 
Confirming the incident, El-Rufai in a statement posted on his Facebook page wrote: "From Allah, we came and to Him we shall return. Please join our family in praying for the repose of the soul of my son, Hamza El-Rufai who died this morning in a motor accident in Abuja."

Ebola: Dead victim had contact with over 58 people

‎The Lagos State Government said on Monday that it had identified no fewer than 59 people who had contacts with the Liberian who died of Ebola Virus in the state, Mr Patrick Sawyer.
Commissioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris, said at a news conference in Ikeja that the contact tracing became imperative to ascertain any possible transmission of the virus by the victim.
Idris said the identified contacts comprised 44 hospital and 15 airport contacts, including the Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia.

Jet carrying governors will crash - Abuja Pastor

General Overseer of God of Cham­pion Royal As­sembly, Brother Joshua Ignila,has dished out more prophecies after his spot on World Cup prediction (He predicted Germany would win).
According to the Sun, he told his congregation that,Boko haram leader, Shekau would be captured soon and a low ranking officer will shoot him on the leg. Also said Abuja residents should be careful between today,Monday and Wednesday
"I hear the sound of bomb in the city and I call on security agen­cies to tighten security in Abuja between Monday and Wednesday."

Ogundimu who has been off the movie scene for a while is seeking the help of well meaning Nigerians to help her raise N500, 000 to help undergo a surgery to save her life.

Married man attempts suicide over girlfriend

Tragedy was averted Friday morning at Bay Bridge road, Yenagoa, when a 40-year-old man, Ediekan, attempted to commit suicide as a result of his failed bid to have se.x with a girl with whom he reportedly had a long standing relationship .It took the timely intervention of his neighbours to save the situation.
Ediekan, father of two children, was said to have been spending money to woo one Favour who lives within the same neighborhood to go to bed with him. But rather succumb to his pressure; Favour resisted all entreaties and kept on promising that she would eventually marry him.

‎‎Osun: Man dies testing potency of bullet charm

Attempt to ascertain potency of a charm, prepared to ward off bullets, by two cousins has gone awry, leading to the death of one of the two people involved in Asipa, a town in Ife North local government area of Osun State. Sources in the town told National Mirror that the two people involved, Rasheed Sulaimon and Siji, had left for a desolate part of town, with the aim of testing the potency of an amulet someone made for him, with alleged powers to ward off bullets. A resident of Asipa town, who preferred anonymity, told our correspondent that Sulaimon, a bricklaying apprentice had told Siji, said to be his cousin, to accompany him to Anglican Church area, to test the charm someone made for him. Ongoing gunfire in Adamawa town

Residents of Garkida, in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State are reporting an ongoing heavy gunfire in the town.
"We are right now locked up in our houses and all we can hear is heavy gunfire‎ which appears to come from all directions," a resident, who is too shaken to provide his name, told PREMIUM TIMES.
Garkida is under Gombi Local Government Area.

Nigeria is the only country in the world celebrating Eid-el-Fitri today

‎Nigeria is the only country in the world whose Muslim faithful are celebrating Eid-El-Fitri (the end of Ramadan festivities) today following the controversial announcement by the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa'ad, on Saturday night that the new moon of Shawwal was sighted in some cities across the country, PREMIUM TIMES can report today.

Buhari masterminded his own convoy bombing- Dokubo-Asari

Militant leader, Dokubo-Asari, who is also the leader of Niger Delta Peoples Salvation Force, NDPSF, yesterday, exploded, saying Buhari masterminded the attack on himself. 
He lashed out at the former head of state, saying he plotted to kill many innocent Nigerians in the explosion.

Corpse of first Ebola patient in Lagos burnt

The remains of the first victim of Ebola Disease in Nigeria, who died in Lagos on Friday, has been cremated. 
Vanguard reports hat the cremation was witnessed by officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, led by its Project Director, Professor Abdulsalam Nasidi, among others. 
No reason was however given by the State government at the moment, but DailyPost observed that it might not be unconnected with the deadly nature of the virus.

Policemen in Kano State have aborted a bloodbath in the city of Kano after discovering a car loaded with explosives at the mosque of Sheikh Isyaku Rabiu at Goron Dutse. 
Kano State commissioner of police, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba, confirmed the discovery. 

Man spends 23 years in prison for refusing to bribe policeman

An ex-convict, Calistus Ike who was in prison for 23 years, has sadly revealed how he was sentenced for failing to bribe a Policeman with N200 in 1989.
He spent twenty three years as an awaiting trial inmate and was due to spend another 16 years on the death row, but for the intervention of a France- based human right group, Avocats Sans Frontieres, ASFF, also known as 'Lawyers Without Borders France'.
Through the human right group, the Edo state government, pardoned him and approved his release from prison.
Narrating his ordeal to Vanguard, Calistus Ike counted himself as a "lucky-survivor". He added that so many innocent Nigerians were currently languishing in various prison facilities across the federation.

‎Anambra Election: Obiano Again Floors Ngige, Nwoye At Appeal Court

The Appeal court sitting in Enugu on Saturday dismissed all the four appeals against the judgment of Anambra Election Tribunal, which upheld the election of Willie Obiano as duly elected governor of Anambra State as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Man batters wife for breaking fast with fish

A 34 year old woman, Mrs. Fatima Bankole, was battered by her husband, Alhaji Kamoru Bankole, for taking piece of fish from the pot to break her fast.
The victim is first of three wives of Alhaji Kamoru, at residing at Hasan Close, Alasia, Ijanikin in Lagos State. The bruising attack happened on the 16th of July, when the third wife reported to their husband that their senior wife took fish from the soup to break her fast. The husband, according to witnesses, did not listen to her excuse before attacking her.

A 53-year-old General Overseer of Holy Trinity Ministry [aka Vineyard Ministry] in Umudikwere Community, Enugu State, Pastor' Timothy Ngwu has been arrested by the police for impregnating several married women and ladies.
Ironically, police sources say the suspect claims he was directed by the Holy Spirit to sleep with female members of his church in the name of God.

Sultan of Sokoto and President-General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar (III) has declared that life is sacred, thus anyone who bombs himself thinking he will go to heaven is delusional.
The Sultan, who said this on yesterday when he hosted security chiefs during the breaking of the Ramadan fast in his palace in Sokoto, further explained: "For us, one single life lost means a lot to us because life is sacred. You cannot love God if you do not love your neighbour and if we all agree that you cannot love God if you do not love your neighbour, then why are we having all these problems?" the Sultan asked.

A Chinese man who rushed to the hospital because he was experiencing stomach aches and blood in his urine was stunned to discover that he was a woman on his monthly cycle.
According to Shagalist,the married 44-year-old man from Zhejiang province, China, visited his local doctor with his wife in Yongkang where he made the shocking discovery that he had, all along, in fact been a woman.
After a full examination, doctors discovered that he had a full set of female reproductive organs along with a penis – which he said had given him an active sex life with his wife of ten years. A spokesman for First People's Hospital of Yongkang said .
