A Nigerian boy, 17, Jamal Ottun, who was a student at the Wallington County Grammar School in South London has drowned while swimming with his school mates at the Shawnigan lake on Vancouver Island, Canada.
Jamal, the only son of his father, on Sunday July 12, 2015.
The young athlete was in Canada with his school’s Rugby team for a Rugby tour when the sad incident occurred.

According to his school, “It is with great sadness that we now confirm that during a scheduled swimming trip on Sunday, July 12, 2015 , whilst on the School rugby tour to Canada, Jamal Ottun, an extremely popular and talented Year 12 student, required support from the emergency services. Despite their response, and the considerable efforts of the school’s own staff and students, Jamal could not be saved and sadly passed away at the scene.”
