Motorcycle rider escapes lynching

An unidentified motorcycle rider yesterday escaped being lynched by residence of Jakande Estate, oke-Afa Isola after he attempted to steal from his passenger.

An eyewitness, Mr Uche Okeke who owns a shop at the bus stop where the incident occured said the Motorcycle rider picked his passenger from the estate gate and snatched his bag containing money after his passenger alighted.

"The passenger's phone rang after boarding the motorcycle so he picked it and told the person on the other end that he was coming with the money. He said the money was with him and he would soon get to Nepa bus stop, as soon as he came off the motorcycle and brought out the 50Naira fare to pay the motorcycle rider, the rider snatched his bag and zoomed off," he said.

Uche further narrated that if not for the road bumps that was recently made on Nepa down road the motorcycle rider would have gotten away.

"The owner of the money started shouting for help and people came out to run after the man, the bumps made him fall off his motorcycle and he was caught," he narrated.

It too the intervention of the police stationed in the estate to save the man from being lynched but his motorcycle was not as lucky as he as it was burnt by angry residents and shop owners around the bus stop.
He was later taken to the nearest police station.

  1. Chai! The cyclist would have been made human barbeque. I know Nigerians have a penchant for setting such people ablaze in broad daylight. It's called jungle justice. I wonder how long it takes before the robber gets convicted and jailed.
