The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and
Control has commenced investigating Danyang Trade and Laofang Chinese Food
Supermarket, Lagos, for allegedly importing and distributing unregistered
products.
The Director-General of NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii, who was
represented by Head of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate of the
agency, Mr. Kingsley Ejiofor, made the
disclosure at a news conference in Lagos today.
He said the supermarket had 20 types of unregistered
products labelled in a foreign language without interpretation.
“As of the time of investigation, 20 unregistered products
labelled in Chinese language without English translation were discovered in
their outlets.
“It might interest you to know that imported eggs – Tenge
Egg, were among the products found in the premises.
“The offending products have been evacuated to our warehouse
and the suspects have been interrogated and the investigation is on-going,” he
said.
Orhii said the agency would continue to strive to ensure
that Nigerians had good quality, safe and wholesome regulated products.
