Police rescues 34 kidnapped children

34 kidnapped children from the Okunzu community, Issele-Uku axis of Delta state, have been reportedly released by men of the Delta State Police Command.
According to reports, in the last few weeks in the community, there have been concerns by its
residents over alleged ritual activities necessitating them to appeal to the state government for more security.
The release of the kids was disclosed by the police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu. He said that the kidnappers lured the kids into a pick-up van with registration number AA 136 XX. He said that the police was only able to move into action following a tip-off. They ambushed the kidnappers, killing two, while three escaped.
Sadly, three girls are still missing. The parents of the girls disclosed that they were kidnapped on Thursday while playing outside their homes in the night.
Stressing that the police will do everything possible to make life unbearable for kidnappers, cultists, and hoodlums in the state, DSP Kalu disclosed that there was an earlier petition by some of the residents over the alleged invasion by ritualists.
