An explosion was heard in the early hours of this morning near a market in Maiduguri.
The explosion was heard at about 8:20 a.m.
The market is close to a Power Holding Company (NEPA) building.
Many casualties may be recorded as the area is usually a crowded commercial centre.
An officer of the State Security Service confirmed the explosion to PREMIUM TIMES minutes after it occurred.
Emergency officials are said to be on their way to the explosion scene.
