Close rival of Senator Shehu Sani, Uba Sani, has defeated his long-time team player at their polling unit 020, Angwan Sarki, Kaduna North local government area of the state.
The duo who are candidates of People’s Redemption Party (PRP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), are contesting the Kaduna Central senatorial zone ticket.
Shehu Sani contested and won the seat in 2015 on the platform of APC, but defected to PRP due to the political difference he had with the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Shehu Sani scored 51 votes while Uba Sani scored 236 votes. Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s Lawal Adamu (Mr LA) came third with 34 votes in the polling unit.
Assistant Polling Officer 1 for the Ungwar Sarki Ward 020 polling unit, Umar, Muhammed Sanusi, who declared the results of the elections after sorting and counting said, President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC polled 292 votes in the polling unit, while PDP’s Atiku Abubakar scored 23 votes.
He added that APC’s Hon. Suleiman Samaila, the incumbent member representing Kaduna North federal constituency, polled 240 votes to win the House of Representatives poll in the polling unit. PDP’s candidate had 47 votes, while PRP candidate had 28 votes.
Meanwhile, Governor El-Rufai was able to secure his polling unit 024 Ungwan Sarki for President Muhammadu Buhari, APC’s presidential candidate in the election.
Other results were People’s Democratic Party 44 votes. For the Senate, APC scored 317, PDP73 and PRP 35 while for the House of Representatives, it was APC 323, PDP 77 and PRP 19.
